Application Requirements and Eligibility

The eligibility of an applicant is assessed based on the following documents, which must be submitted in either German or English along with the enrollment application (applications are typically submitted digitally):
  1. Degree Certificate: A certificate from the previous degree program indicating the final grade, duration of study, and academic achievements (e.g., Academic Transcript, Transcript of Records) or equivalent records of achievement and any other relevant documents.
  2. Course Descriptions: A description of the content of the achievements documented under item 1.
  3. Letter of Motivation: A statement outlining the reasons for pursuing the intended degree and an explanation of study objectives.
  4. Curriculum Vitae (CV): A description of professional and personal background, including explanations of practical skills and experience where applicable.

Note for Alumni: If the applicant has completed a Bachelor’s degree at TU Kaiserslautern or RPTU, only the documents described in items 1, 3, and 4 are required.

English Language Proficiency Requirements Proof of sufficient English language proficiency is required for the Master’s degree program. Sufficient English language proficiency is considered to be met only if:

  1. Higher Education Entrance Qualification: The qualification according to § 65 Para. 1 HochSchG was obtained in Germany, or is at least equivalent to a German qualification regarding English language training.
  2. IELTS: A result of at least 6.5 in the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is provided.
  3. TOEFL: A test result of at least 81 points in the TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test) or an equivalent examination result is provided.
  4. Examination Board: Proficiency is determined and confirmed by the Examination Board.

Furthermore, sufficient English language proficiency is deemed to be met a fortiori (without further question) if proficiency is demonstrated at a minimum of Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
